You can polish the nails, spray on the glitter, dress the ankle with a gold chain, and slide it into a premium flip-flop but it’s just hard to make the human foot esthetically pleasing. I’ve seen some out in public that have made me lose my appetite… I mean double sock them and put on a pair of high tops! When you think of beauty you just don’t think of feet.
I traveled as a soloist for a few years and had the blessing of being able to take my family along with me most of the time. We traveled in a van and my oldest boy was around 11 when I started. I’ll never forget the times when we’d be rolling toward home from a weekend out, Kimberly would lean her seat back, the kids would pull their pillows out and drift off to sleep and all of the sudden a sour displeasing aroma would make it’s way to the front of the vehicle. Yep, you guessed it, FEET! Dustin’s shoes had come off and it did more for me than twelve cups of coffee could have ever done. Eyes watering I would say… “Dustin, put your shoes back on!” Ahhhh, such fond memories!
So how could one ever consider feet to be beautiful?
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth! Isaiah 52:7
Have you ever seen someone coming your way whom you knew had good news to share? Weren’t they a welcome sight?!
I remember the day I looked toward the back of People’s Memorial Christian Church, watched as the double doors swung open to reveal the most beautiful bride that’s ever walked an aisle. My, how beautiful those feet were to me as they carried the lady with whom I would spend the rest of my life to the altar. Just last night those feet were propped up in my lap (As they are every night that I’m home) and I had the pleasure of rubbing on them. Yes, I said it… It is my pleasure to rub the precious feet of the love of my life!
Just as I remember how wonderful that day was nearly 25 years ago, I look forward to the day when I can neal at the precious feet that took the nails for my redemption. The word says that EVERY knee shall bow. I’m thankful to be one of those who will do it of my own free will.
The world is starving for a multitude of us who’ve been changed by the grace of God to shod our feet with the preparation of the gospel and carry this life-changing message, without apology, to the hurting and the dying!
Are you a carrier of the good news that Jesus saves, heals, changes, and uses each one who calls upon His name? Those who walk the walk have beautiful feet! So, let me ask you… Are your feet beautiful?
